Introduction :

Ganesha's pure emotions and unflinching devotions to his parents gave him a place to be worshipped first before state of any auspicious event. Ganesh Chaturthi is associated with India's freedom struggle in many ways.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. It is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India, particularly in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. The festival typically falls in the Hindu calendar month of Bhadrapada, usually between August and September. Ganesh Chaturthi festivities span over several days, with the most elaborate celebrations taking place on the final day, known as Anant Chaturdashi.

The central feature of Ganesh Chaturthi is the installation of clay idols of Lord Ganesha in homes and elaborate pandals (temporary structures). These idols are worshipped with great fervor and devotion, accompanied by prayers, hymns, and offerings of sweets and fruits. On the final day of the festival, the idols are paraded through the streets amidst much fanfare, accompanied by music, dancing, and chanting. The culmination of the festival involves immersing the idols in bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, or the sea, symbolizing the return of Lord Ganesha to his celestial abode while also signifying the cycle of creation and dissolution in Hindu cosmology. Ganesh Chaturthi serves not only as a religious observance but also as a cultural event that fosters community spirit and unity among people of diverse backgrounds.

Guide Celebration :

A guided celebration refers to an organized and directed event or festivity that follows a predetermined plan, structure, or set of instructions. Unlike spontaneous or informal celebrations, a guided celebration is orchestrated with a specific purpose or agenda in mind. It may involve a designated leader or host who directs the flow of the event, ensuring that participants engage in specific activities, rituals, or ceremonies according to a predefined schedule or program.

Celebration Process :

The date for the festival is usually decided by the presence of Chaturthi Thithi. The festival is held during "Bhadrapada Madyahanaa Purvabaddha". If the Chaturthi Thiti begins at night on the previous day and gets over by morning on next day, then the next day is observed as Vinayaka Chaturthi. In the consecration ceremony, a priest performs a Prana Pratishtha to invite Ganesh like a guest. This is followed by the 16-step Shodashopachara ritual (Sanskrit: Shodash, 16; Upachara, process) during which coconut, jaggery, modaks, durva grass and red hibiscus (Jaswand) flowers are offered to the idol. Depending on the region and time zone, the ceremony commences with hymns from the Rigveda, the Ganapati Atharvashirsa, the Upanishads and the Ganesh stotra (prayer) from the Narada Purana are chanted.
