Introduction:

Diwali is also known as Deepawali, the day to celebrate with deepak. Prince Rama’s triumphant return to the city of Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. Diwali is a significant festival in Hinduism, Jainism (Lord Mahavira, attained nirvana) and Sikhism (celebrates the victory of the sixth guru, Guru Hargobind, from the designs of Emperor Jahangir).

Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India, observed by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and some Buddhists. The festival typically lasts five days and falls in the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin, which usually corresponds to October or November in the Gregorian calendar. Diwali is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm across the country and is characterized by the lighting of oil lamps, candles, and decorative lights, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

The origins of Diwali can be traced back to ancient Hindu mythology, with various legends and stories associated with the festival. One of the most popular narratives revolves around Lord Rama, the seventh avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, and his return to the kingdom of Ayodhya after defeating the demon king Ravana. According to the Ramayana, the people of Ayodhya illuminated the city with oil lamps to welcome Rama, his wife Sita, and his brother Lakshmana, thus marking the beginning of the tradition of lighting lamps during Diwali. In addition to the homecoming of Lord Rama, Diwali also commemorates the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon Narakasura and the goddess Lakshmi’s birthday, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. Beyond its religious significance, Diwali is a time for families to come together, exchange gifts, share meals, and partake in festive rituals that foster unity, joy, and goodwill among communities.

Celebration Process :

The festival brings with it several unique traditions, which also vary by the region. What all celebrations have in common are the lights, fireworks, feasting, new clothes and praying. In southern India, many have an early morning warm oil bath to symbolize bathing in the holy River Ganges as a form of physical and spiritual purification. In the north, worshipping the Goddess Lakshmi, who symbolizes wealth and prosperity, is the norm. Gambling is a popular tradition because of the belief whoever gambled on Diwali night would prosper throughout the year. Many people buy gold on the first day of Diwali, known as Dhanteras — an act they believe will bring them good luck. Setting off firecrackers is a cherished tradition, as is exchanging sweets and gifts among friends and family. Diwali celebrations typically feature rangoli, which are geometric, floral patterns drawn on the floor using colorful powders.

Guide Celebration :

A guided celebration refers to an organized and directed event or festivity that follows a predetermined plan, structure, or set of instructions. Unlike spontaneous or informal celebrations, a guided celebration is orchestrated with a specific purpose or agenda in mind. It may involve a designated leader or host who directs the flow of the event, ensuring that participants engage in specific activities, rituals, or ceremonies according to a predefined schedule or program.
